Oregano Essential Oil Benefits and Uses

Oregano (Origanum Vulgare)
Oregano oil is extracted from the flowering tops of the plant and yields 1.0 -1.4 % . The main chemical components are carvacrol, thymol, p-cymene, cis-ocimene, caryophyllene and linalool.
Perhaps the most powerful of all essential oils, oregano oil effectively combats and heals many common ailments. From the common flu to superbugs, ear, throat and chest infections, bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma, colitis and other gastrointestinal issues, to rheumatism, osteoarthritis and skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis.
Clinical tests have shown that oregano oil is a very powerful natural antibiotic, superior to chemical antibiotics as it has no side effects. It even kills bacteria known to be resistant to antibiotics, such as e.coli, staphylococcus and helicobacter pylori.
Oregano oil is antibiotic, antiseptic, antiviral and antifungal medicinal oil. It clears respiratory infections in a few days only. It is also a proven antifungal that can be used in the treatment of Candida Albicans. Use it with a combination of probiotics and a healthy, low sugar diet. For fungus under the nails and on the skin, eczema and psoriasis it can be used diluted in olive oil with topical application, as well as in baths. For the treatment of rheumatic pains muscle aches we can use it in massage.
Oregano oil can heal all kinds of infections, viral, bacterial or fungal in nature. It is also a powerful analgesic and antioxidant, useful in muscular and rheumatic pains, stomach and intestinal upsets.
Precautions
Always dilute oregano oil very well, for internal as well as external use, as direct contact with the oil may cause burns. Internal use only according to herbalist’s directions. Oregano oil is only intended for short term use. It may interfere with iron absorption.
External use: Add 1 drop to a teaspoon of carrier oil and apply or massage topically.
How to use oregano oil internally: Add 1-2 drops to a small glass of fruit juice, or a tbsp of yoghurt or honey. Stir well and drink 3 times a day, for maximum 2 weeks. Infections usually clear after just a few days.
Children under the age of 10 should not take oregano oil internally. Dilute 2 drop of oregano oil in a tbsp of olive oil or other carrier oil and apply topically on the chest and neck as well as on the soles of the feet for antibiotic use.
Avoid during pregnancy.
