What Are Flower Essences?

Many people ask: What are flower essences, and how do they work?

Flower essences are natural vibrational remedies made from flowers and spring water. Unlike essential oils or herbal tinctures, flower essences are traditionally used to support emotional and spiritual wellbeing rather than physical health.

At Cyherbia Botanical Park, flower essences are created using traditional nature-based methods inspired by herbal and energetic practices.

Do Flower Essences Work?

Flower essences have long been used in holistic and spiritual traditions to support emotional balance, inner calm, self-awareness, and personal growth.

Many people describe feeling more connected, grounded, and emotionally balanced when spending time in nature surrounded by trees, flowers, and herbs. Flower essences are based on the idea that plants carry energetic qualities that can gently support the emotional and spiritual self.

Each flower essence is believed to hold the energetic imprint or “spirit” of the plant it is made from.

Flower Essences vs Essential Oils

Flower essences are completely different from essential oils and tinctures.

Essential Oils & Tinctures

Essential oils and herbal tinctures are traditionally used for physical wellbeing, aromatherapy, skincare, massage, and herbal wellness practices.

Flower Essences

Flower essences are traditionally used for:

  • Emotional support
  • Spiritual connection
  • Personal growth
  • Meditation and mindfulness
  • Energetic balance

They are subtle remedies focused on emotional and energetic wellbeing.

How Flower Essences Are Made

The preparation of flower essences follows a very different process from essential oil distillation or tincture making.

At Cyherbia, flower essences are created by:

  1. Carefully harvesting flower tops using sterilised tools
  2. Placing the flowers into spring water without direct hand contact
  3. Leaving the bowl under sunlight for several hours to absorb the energetic qualities of the flowers and the sun
  4. Sometimes leaving the essence under the full moon overnight
  5. Straining the flowers and preserving the essence with brandy

The resulting preparation is traditionally known as the “mother tincture,” which is then further diluted.

According to homeopathic traditions, flower essences are believed to become more energetically potent through dilution.
